"We can’t wait another decade for change.
It's time to Mobilise Britain."

Mobilise Britain > Summary

Mobile connectivity powers modern life. It's a technology we all use. We rely on it to stay in touch with family and friends, access public services, navigate our journeys, run businesses and work remotely. From rural communities and busy town centres to homes, hospitals and workplaces, mobile networks help keep Britain moving.

If the Government is to deliver on its ambition of growth in every postcode and ensure no one is left behind, mobile connectivity must be available to all where people live, work and travel. Every community needs access to a high-quality mobile network to support them in their daily lives, support local economic growth, job creation and better public services.

While the UK performs strongly on affordability, it continues to lag behind many international competitors on mobile network quality. At the same time, demand for data and digital services is growing faster than ever.

The UK's mobile operators are investing billions of pounds every year to expand coverage, increase capacity and build the network infrastructure that people and businesses depend on. But a commitment to invest does automatically result in a better network for local communities.  It cannot overcome the policy barriers that block the ability to upgrade mobile network infrastructure. Outdated planning laws, and other rules and regulations that have not fundamentally changed since the launch of 3G phones over 20 years ago.  make the UK one of the most challenging places to build digital infrastructure.

Mobile UK is calling on government, regulators, local authorities, landowners and industry to work together to remove barriers, unlock investment and build the connectivity Britain needs to thrive. We can’t wait another decade for change.

It's time to Mobilise Britain.
