Every community needs access to reliable mobile connectivity to support daily life, enable local economic growth, create jobs and improve public services.

The UK is recognised as one of the world's most affordable mobile markets. But as demand for data and digital services continues to grow at pace, the challenge is to keep up and strengthen our competitive position internationally. The UK has fallen behind where it once led on mobile infrastructure deployment and must accelerate the rollout of 5G to support future growth, innovation and connectivity.

The UK's mobile operators are investing billions of pounds every year to expand coverage, increase capacity and build the infrastructure that people and businesses depend on. But a commitment to invest does not automatically result in better connectivity for local communities. Operators continue to face barriers that slow deployment and discourage investment, including outdated planning rules and regulations that have not kept pace with the evolution of mobile technology since the early days of 3G.
