Which? report identifies need for partnership approach with operators to 4G extend mobile coverage

The mobile industry is investing heavily to the tune of £2 billion annually to extend coverage and capacity. It is encouraging that OpenSignal has acknowledged sizeable increases in 4G availability in its own research. In fact, by the end of this year a 4G signal will be available to 98% of premises by at least one operator, which will considerably improve the UK’s global standing and place us at the top end of 4G availability league tables.

However, to further extend coverage and capacity to those areas where it is most difficult there needs to be a partnership approach which makes getting new sites through the planning process more efficient and actively supports mobile infrastructure deployment in local plans and growth strategies.
