Mobile UK hosts public assets provision roundtable

As the UK continues to upgrade and enhance its networks for both 4G and in preparation for 5G Mobile UK today hosts a round-table to discuss the provision of public assets for mobile infrastructure deployment.

The capacity, speed and reliability of 5G will bring a real transformational opportunity to the residents, businesses and public services of the UK. But to get the benefits mobile operators need to be able to build their networks rapidly and cost-effectively. The round-table has been organised to discuss how local authorities and mobile operators can work together to better utilise public assets such as rooftops, lamp posts and CCTV columns to local mobile network equipment. As the industry gears up for 5G and upgrades its current network public infrastructure could provide an essential platform for bringing enhanced mobile coverage and capacity to residents and businesses.

The round-table, being held in Birmingham with West Midlands 5G and including representatives from local authorities and the four main mobile operators, we will seek to share models that are working in other countries and new ideas that are taking root in the UK.
