Mobile UK calls for equivalence in response to DCMS gigabit consultation

Mobile UK, in responding to the DCMS’s consultation on ensuring tenants' access to  gigabit-capable connections, has called on the Government to ensure that regulatory and policy reform going forward gives equivalence to both mobile and fixed infrastructure.

Mobile UK has also put forward recommendations that will assist in the facilitation of agreements between landlords and operators as part of the ongoing evolution of the Electronic Communications Code. It is important that as the UK prepares for 5G and the continued implementation of 4G networks operators can access sites quickly and effectively.

Hamish MacLeod, Director at Mobile UK, said:

“Mobile UK welcomes the opportunity to respond to the DCMS’s consultation on ensuring gigabit access, but it is important that mobile infrastructure is not left behind. Going forward fixed and mobile must be treated on a par and it is important that in enabling access to sites it is considered for both.”
