Introducing Policy Unplugged: Our New Podcast Series Exploring the Policies Shaping the UK’s Mobile Future

At a time of much change for the UK’s digital connectivity, Mobile UK is launching a brand-new podcast series: Policy Unplugged.
Policy Unplugged will dive into the policies, decisions and debates shaping the future of mobile connectivity across the UK. From infrastructure rollout and spectrum to planning reform and regulation, the podcast will unpack what’s really going on behind the headlines, and why it matters for people, businesses and the economy.
Hosted by Gareth Elliott, the series brings together policy experts, industry voices and decision‑makers to explore how the UK can build the mobile networks it needs for the future and what’s at stake if it doesn’t. The first episode of this new series will launch later this month featuring Karen Egan from Enders Analysis.
Why now?
The launch of Policy Unplugged comes at a critical moment for UK mobile policy.
The Government’s Mobile Market Review represents a watershed moment for the sector. As Mobile UK has previously set out, the review will play a major role in determining UK delivery of widespread, reliable and investment ready mobile connectivity in the years ahead, or whether progress is put at risk due to a fragmented regulatory and planning framework.
Alongside this, Mobile UK continues to call for meaningful barrier busting measures to support mobile infrastructure deployment. Planning barriers remain one of the biggest obstacles to improving coverage and capacity, particularly as networks transition toward next‑generation technologies.
These themes, market reform, investment certainty, planning and long‑term connectivity will sit at the heart of many Policy Unplugged episodes.
