Budget 2018 Response: Fibre progress welcomed but mobile infrastructure cannot be forgotten

Mobile UK Head of Policy and Communications, Gareth Elliott, comments on the Autumn Budget 2018:

“The Chancellor once again recognises the importance of connectivity in setting out plans for public investment in rural broadband but falls short by failing to expand this to mobile infrastructure.”

“Mobile UK has consistently called for bold solutions to improving the policy, financial and regulatory environment for mobile infrastructure deployment. Business rates relief and a move to public intervention in the hardest to reach areas for mobile infrastructure must be part of the Government’s armoury. Mobile UK will continue to press  for these much-needed reforms and looks forward to a bolder response to mobile as part of the industrial strategy.”
