"84% of respondents think it is important to have mobile infrastructure within the range of their home"
How Connected Are You? > Intro
We live in a world dominated by connectivity. Whether in your home, at work or in public spaces you will see people and machines utilising connectivity everywhere. This could be via a mobile phone, using the internet via a laptop or tablet, or even a smartwatch. People now use mobile networks to access banks, travel, track physical activity, shop, meet and communicate.
Mobile UK’s ‘How Connected Are You?’ report analyses the results of public research conducted as part of its Live Better Connected campaign. Exploring the mobile-connected habits and attitudes of the public in the UK and how being connected through mobile networks is intrinsic to the way we live, work and interact.
The report also examines public sentiment towards infrastructure and whether often publicised objections to new mast sites and infrastructure upgrades really reflect the attitudes of the British public.
The results of the study indicate that public perceptions of their connectivity are hugely underestimated and attitudes towards the infrastructure have softened. The study calls for reform of the planning system, which is severely under-resourced, and, furthermore, does not sufficiently favour society’s clear social and economic needs.
