It is an awareness campaign designed to show how richer and more fulfilled our lives are by being connected through mobile networks.

We use mobile networks for almost every aspect of life. From travelling with bus and train etickets and ordering food, taxis, groceries to listening to music, streaming video on demand and keeping up with friends and local and world events.

It’s not just our mobile phones and tablets that use the mobile infrastructure that forms part of everyday life; the internet of things (IoT) enables multiple connected devices and machine-to-machine communication using our networks.

Mobile connectivity impacts our lives both in and out of the home. We can monitor our energy use, connect to home devices such as doorbells/cameras and CCTV and heating systems. Businesses rely on mobile connectivity to monitor performance, enable remote working for staff and to enhance and improve customer service. None of this would be possible without our mobile networks and the infrastructure which supports them. Our mission as the voice of the mobile industry is to help people realise the power of mobile to improve lives and the prosperity of the UK as a whole.

However, to maintain connectivity which serves our communities and businesses all over the UK, providing people and things with access to reliable mobile connections, we need to ensure that we have the right infrastructure in place. Our mobile network operators depend on local infrastructure so they can offer customers good connections to be able to live their lives enhanced by digital technologies like 5G.

No other technology has impacted us like the mobile phone. It’s the fastest growing manmade phenomenon ever – from zero to 7.2 billion worldwide in three decades. In the UK alone there are over 85 million active mobile devices and 12.22 million connected ‘things’. 98% of the adult population have a mobile phone, making 1.37 active connections per head of population.

To ensure we continue to Live Better Connected today, and in generations to come, we need infrastructure which enables our mobile connectivity and secures our digital futures.
