Mobile UK, the voice of the mobile industry welcomes the appointment of the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP as the new Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Commenting on the new appointment, Hamish MacLeod, Director at Mobile UK said:

“The mobile industry is entering a very exciting phase with the first commercial roll-outs of 5G underway. As we welcome the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP as the new Digital Secretary, though, there is plenty to work on with Government.

"On top of the in-tray are ambitious proposals for a Shared Rural Network, which all four mobile operators have jointly put forward, whereby we work with Government to extend coverage into the hardest to reach areas of the country. In addition, to enable the UK to build out new 5G networks, planning reform is urgently needed. We look forward to working with the new Secretary of State on these matters, as good mobile connectivity is so central to the future prosperity of the UK.”
