5G World: Mobile UK outlines steps UK cities can take to exploit smart city initiatives

As 5G takes on centre stage at 5G World and Tech XLR8 Gareth Elliott, Mobile UK’s Head of Policy and Communications, takes part in a panel session looking at smart city initiatives. Gareth outlines the steps needed on the ground to ensure that local authorities are ready for 5G and other technologies.

Focusing on the recently published Councils and Connectivity 2 report published by Mobile UK earlier in the year it highlights the critical role local authorities have in a 5G future.

Gareth Elliott, Head of Policy and Communications at Mobile UK, said:

“5G World and TechXLR8 is a great opportunity to explain that in order to exploit the benefits of 5G it is important to get the foundations right. With new 5G networks already coming online local authorities have a central role and I am keen to highlight the opportunities now to build partnerships with industry to ensure networks can be built quickly and effectively to the benefit of all.”
